Beach Personality: Busy Beach That Appeals To Multiple Types Of People

Newport Beach

Newport Beach is a city and a beach in southern California. The city is large and spread out and has more than one beach zone. At Newport Municipal Beach, the city’s main beach, there is a nice business district adjacent to the beach. You can eat and shop in the business district, which I believe only adds to your enjoyment of the beach itself. You can even buy fresh caught fish at the Dory Fishing Fleet market right on the beach if you are lucky enough to be there when they are open.

Newport Municipal Beach is where you will find Newport Pier. It’s a state landmark and in addition to fishing, strolling, and admiring the views, there is a restaurant — Newport Grill & Sushi — at the end of the pier.

Newport Beach has soft, beige sand, natural debris along the shoreline, and some garbage on the beach. It’s one of the few southern California beaches where I saw garbage on the beach, but it’s also one of the few beaches where I saw unattended belongings. I believe that says something about the beach’s patrons, good and bad.

Although Newport Beach isn’t as well-known as Huntington Beach for surfing, there were a lot of surfers at the beach, and even surfing lessons in progress, when I was there. The waves aren’t as big as those at Huntington Beach, which makes it a better spot for beginners. The smaller waves also make the ocean at Newport Beach safer for kids and other less experienced swimmers to enjoy the water.

Cathy, Chrissy, and Maureen, 3 women with their children, had this to say about Newport Municipal Beach. “We’ve been coming here since 1966. It’s our home away from home. The sand and water are always clean and the weather is always perfect. It’s a good place to bring kids. Newport Beach is so awesome. It’s a beautiful place that God created.”
