South Beach is a beautiful beach, but in my opinion, people watching is the main reason to go there. It’s an amazing, never ending display of humanity. Before going to South Beach I thought I would only see “beautiful” people and feel intimidated. That wasn’t my experience at all. You can see pretty much everything on South Beach, the beach itself and the neighborhood. I saw families, retirees, singles, heterosexual couples, homosexual couples, fat people, thin people, athletes, Europeans, South Americans, Americans, heterosexual and homosexual singles on the “make”, topless women, and yes, even a few “beautiful” people. Although there aren’t as many activities as I normally like at a beach, South Beach was never dull.

In addition to people watching, South Beach is a fantastic beach for walking because it’s a long beach with firm sand and warm, shallow water. You could walk the entire length of South Beach from 5th Avenue at the south end to 21st Street at the north end. If you have the stamina, you could keep going through Mid and North Beach, all the way up to Bal Harbour Beach.
