Newport RI Beaches
Newport RI beaches are very popular with locals and tourists alike. The most well known Newport, RI beach is Easton’s beach – called 1st Beach by the locals – because of its location at the beginning of Newport’s famous Cliff Walk.
As you might expect of Newport’s most popular beach, Easton Beach has lots of amenities in addition to the beach area. These include a carousel, snack bar, aquarium, playground, picnic pavilion, store, skateboard park and lots of seasonal activities and events.
Other public beaches in Newport are:
- Sachuest Beach (technically in Middletown, RI but considered a Newport beach)
- 3rd Beach (also technically in Middletown)
- Gooseberry Beach
- Reject’s Beach (Seriously! This is the beach’s name.)
One common misnomer is the term Newport Beach, RI. There is no Newport Beach, RI. It’s not a town or the name of any beach in Rhode Island.

Rhode Island Beach Rentals
As is true of most popular beach destinations, Rhode Island has many home and condo rentals available on or near its beaches. The best way to find a Rhode Island beach rental to suit your individual needs is to do an online search.
Campgrounds in RI
In addition to beach rentals and hotels, another option you may want to consider is campgrounds in RI. One of the nice things about RI is it’s a small state, so no matter where you stay you’re never far from a beach.
One campground adjacent to the beach is the campground at Sachuest Beach. Other campgrounds adjacent to RI beaches are Charlestown Breachway, East Beach, and Fort Getty Campground.
