Beach Personality: Family Friendly Local Beach

Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach is a long beach that connects to Hermosa Beach at the south. This means for all intents and purposes the beach goes on for miles even if technically it’s a different beach. Manhattan Beach is very clean with soft, golden sand and minimal natural debris along the shoreline. The beachgoers here are primarily residents of the town and most are either over 30 years old or under 10 years old. Another nice thing about Manhattan Beach is the fact that there are 2 paved paths that run parallel to the beach. One is for bikers and the other is for pedestrians.

Manhattan Beach is where Kerri Walsh Jennings, a US Women’s Pro Volleyball player, lives and trains. This says a lot about the beach and the community. Kerri is the mother of 2 children, with a third on the way. And, she and former volleyball partner Misty May-Treanor have been called “the greatest beach volleyball team of all time.” In addition to families, volleyball nets seem to be the second most plentiful thing at the beach.
