Folly Beach South Carolina
Folly Beach, a city located on Folly Island in Charleston County, SC, is often referred to as the “Edge of America.”
Folly Beach SC is within easy driving distance of Charleston, SC and is a popular spot for fishing and surfing. The Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier is 24 feet wide and extends more than 1,045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. It’s known as one of the best places to go saltwater fishing. Additionally, the pier is an excellent place to take in the views, enjoy a relaxing walk, and maybe even catch sight of some rare beach birds.
Surfers appreciate the Folly Beach surf cam where they can check surf conditions before heading to the beach.
Folly Beach Hotels
Of course there are many places to stay including hotels and vacation rentals. Two of the best options are Tides Folly Beach and Regatta Inn. Tripadvisor.com and hotels.com are two online search engines I like to use when searching for lodging.
If you’re interested in Folly Beach vacation rentals I recommend airbnb.com or homeaway.com.
Folly Beach Restaurants
Locklear’s Beach City Grill is located right on the Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier. As you can probably imagine both the views and fresh seafood are excellent.
BLU is another highly regarded restaurant. It’s set on the beach at the Tides Folly Beach.
Lost Dog Café is a great option for all-day breakfast.
Other recommended restaurants include:
- Loggerhead’s Beach Grill for seafood and music.

- Rita’s Seaside Grill for burgers and seafood.
- Black Magic Cafe for breakfast and brunch.
- Chico Feo for Caribbean specialties.
