Zuma Beach — Malibu: Best Beaches in California

Zuma Beach

Zuma Beach is a very clean beach with silky, soft, tan sand and clear blue-green water. Some natural debris such as kelp and other types of seaweed can be found along the high tide line, but the beach is generally garbage free. It is also my favorite kind of beach where the sand is soft away from the shoreline, but is packed enough near the water’s edge to walk or run along the beach without major calf pain.   According to Laure Izher and Kahina Bali, two beachgoers from France spending a month in Malibu as part of a home exchange, Zuma Beach is the best beach in LA County. They like Zuma Beach because it is a clean beach with “clean water”, the waves are “so fun”, the lifeguards are very helpful, and they can see dolphins every day. They are right. I even saw 2 dolphins’ dorsal fins on the water’s surface while we were talking! Laure and Kahina also enjoy the fact that the beach isn’t too big and never gets overly crowded, even on weekends. The only negative thing they had to say about Zuma Beach is that there are too many seagulls.
