Beach Dogs 2016

Most dogs love to go to the beach. They can play in the sand, run in the water, and most important, be with their masters rather than be left behind at home. I’m a dog lover myself and I love when I can take my dogs to the beach, but unfortunately far too many beaches don’t allow dogs because of the bad behavior of a small minority of dogs and dog owners.

Where are the Best Dog Friendly Beaches?
My personal favorite is Ocean Beach in San Diego, CA. Legend has it that Ocean Beach is the very first dog beach. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I do know it’s a great beach for humans and their dogs.
Other dog friendly beaches include:
- Pismo Beach in Pismo Beach, CA
- Dewey Beach in Dewey Beach, DE
- Janes Island State Park in Crisfield, MD
- Norman F. Kruse Park Dog Beach in Muskegon, MI
- Chimney Beach on Lake Tahoe, NV
- Huntington Beach State Park near Myrtle Beach, SC
Dog Friendly Hotels
Pismo Lighthouse Suites in Pismo Beach, CA welcomes two pets of any size for an additional fee of $30 per night. Pet-friendly rooms are limited.
The Starfish Cottage in Dewey Beach, DE accepts two pets of any size for an additional fee of $30 per night, or $200 per week.
Best Western Plus Hotel in Myrtle Beach, SC welcomes two dogs up to 80 lbs. for an additional fee of $20 per pet, per night (maximum $100 per week).
For other dog friendly beaches, hotels, restaurants, events, and general travel information, I recommend Bring Fido.

Dog Beaches Near Me
A lot of us want to take our dog to the beach, but don’t really want to travel with them. In that case, if no beaches near you are listed, my best suggestion is for you to do a search for “dog friendly beaches near me” or go to Bring Fido.
To many joyful beach experiences!
