For many of us, especially families, a beach day includes beach toys. These toys generally fall into two categories: water toys and sand toys.
Water Toys
When I first thought about water toys I thought of water toys for children. Things like SwimWays Toypedo Bandits (my children’s favorite) and floats, but then I got to thinking that many of the things I like to do at the beach involve water toys.

Big Ticket Water Toys
Boats, motorized and non-motorized
Jet skis
Kiteboards
Windsurfing boards
Giant inflatables such as water parks, trampolines, climbing walls, activity islands, and slides. Rave O-Zone Plus Water Bouncer (White/Blue) and Aquaglide are two companies that specialize in these types of things.

Other Water Toys
Wham-O Boogieboard Ripster Pro Surfboard for Kids
Floats, rafts and tubes
Beach balls
Plastic and inflatable toys that float
Squirt guns
Balloons
I mentioned that toypedos were my sons’ favorite water toy. In case you aren’t familiar with them, they are a hydro dynamic toy that glides up to 30 feet underwater. They’re best in a pool, but can be used in any clear body of shallow water.

Sand Toys
Sand buckets and pails
Shovels, trowels, sifters, sand molds
Kites
Frisbees
Paddleball set
Footballs, soccer balls, any throwing toy
In addition, some of the water toys mentioned are also good sand toys, such as beach balls, plastic and inflatable toys, balloons, and squirt guns.

Sandboxes and Water Tables
You may be thinking these sand and water toys sound like a lot of fun, but I don’t live near a beach and have no plans to be at one in the near future. Not to worry. Beach toy fun is as close as your backyard through the magic of sandboxes and water tables.
Depending on where you live, you can buy sandboxes and water tables either in stores or online. I recommend a sandbox with a cover in order to keep animals out. And, don’t forget you’ll need bags of sand.
Walmart carries a variety of sandboxes and water tables. I like Walmart because its stores are all over the US and its prices are reasonable.
If you prefer shopping online, I recommend Amazon. They carry both sandboxes and water tables.
To many joyful beach experiences!
